On Sunday, October 5th South Lyon Power & Light officially opened their doors for a first worship service at 9:10 AM and a Sunday Morning Gathering at 11:12 AM.

17 people attended the service which is a nice blend of traditional and contemporary worship in a relaxed setting. Almost every age group was present: from children to seniors.

The attendance for the Sunday Morning Gathering was lower (5 people altogether) but south campus pastor Pamela H. is confident that this will change as soon as some more advertising has been done. The gathering provides the opportunity to meet friendly people, have some coffee and cookies and discuss interesting topics. At the moment the focus is on lyrics of popular music and movie sequences.

Thanksgiving 8000 calorie poem

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
and your pies take the prize,
and may your Thanksgiving dinner
stay off your thighs!

Pelle’s Thoughts

When was the last time you said “thank you”? When was the last time you thanked another person for being a friend? When was the last time you thanked another person for listening when you needed to talk? When was the last time you thanked another person for helping you with something? When was the last time you thanked God for the many blessings in your life? Yesterday? Last week? Last Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is so called because we are all so thankful that it only comes once a year said P. J. O’Rourke

This year’s Thanksgiving isn’t too far away anymore. Thanksgiving, the time of the year when we give thanks, have lots of turkey and spend time with the family. But I think we should give thanks more often than just once a year. And despite the fact that we are all facing a lot of problems and obstacles in our lives there is still a lot to be thankful for. But usually we are so busy that that we simply forget to say thank you. Or we do it in a rush, and it ends up being  a quick “thanks” while walking by. But when was the last time you looked someone in the eye and really truly said: Thank you so much! And really meant it.

Don’t wait until Thanksgiving to say “thank you”. Don’t wait until Thanksgiving to give thanks for everything God provides. Do it right now!

And while I am writing this I just realize that I never said “Thank you” for the nice sweater somebody knitted for me - the one with the American flag on it. And I have another one for very cold Michigan winters, and some fleece pants, and, … whatever. So, thank you so much to everyone who provides me with my outfits! And I thank God for a wonderful place to live, for all my friends: Rudi the rabbit, Lily the monkey, Horst the moose, Pingo the penguin, Agatha the weather witch, and all the others. I thank God for my family, and all the wonderful food I get to eat. You know, there are people on this planet who don’t have all these things. But I am sure that they as well will find something to be thankful for. They can at least be thankful that God loves them and is with them every single second of their lives.

I also want to thank God for everyone who made it to this article and reads this right now. Thank you for being who you are and thank you for doing what you do. Thank you for being such a precious child of God!

Yours Pelle
